NLP future pacing into happiness

NLP – Future pacing into happiness is the next lesson in our NLP Training Happiness series.

We have used the concept of associating into the future several times. In NLP, we call this future pacing: imagining what you would see, hear, and feel in the future.

NLP- Future pacing into happiness

What about the past?

1. You can go back in time, into a resourceful or positive moment, and imagine what you saw, heard, and felt – again, associated – as if it is happening all over again, while looking through your own eyes. You can also augment this by making it brighter, louder, more intense.

2. You can also dissociate, go back into the past, float your mind out of your body, and see yourself as an observer, a scientist. No emotion, just to learn.

Could you combine the NLP techniques and some of the things we learned inside the NLP Happiness series in a more prolonged technique?

NLP Technique for happiness using the past, present, and future:

1. Imagine the very young you, maybe before you were four years old, and notice what you looked like. Imagine yourself perfectly happy, playful, innocent. Imagine yourself as a young child laughing.

2. Now imagine you can float your mind into this younger you. So, you would see, hear, and feel exactly what you did, and feel this emotion of happiness.

3. Make it stronger.

4. Imagine a positive event in your past, where a moment of happiness also occurred. In the same way, make it stronger.

5. Take this emotion into the present and ask yourself, what three things went well today and why.

6. What specifically could you do tomorrow, in order for you to have the most positive emotion-charged day? What could you do to experience flow, improve your relationships? Increase your meaning and achievements?

7. Imagine tomorrow, as if tomorrow is today. What will you see, hear, and feel?

8. Make it brighter, bigger, more intense, closer, louder.

What else could you do with this pattern if you were an NLP Practitioner or Master Practitioner?

1. You can add any of the questions of the well-formed outcomes process.

2. You can enhance the submodalities.

3. Use the perceptual positions.

4. Use a model.

5. You could set a single anchor in a moment you feel any positive emotion intensely.

6. You could create a series of anchors, as demonstrated in the video below.
