What courses to take after NLP training is a question I am often asked. My answer has always been the same…..NONE!
Admittedly, this hasn’t been good teaching on my part. Simply as it is creating a wall for the student. Let me break through that wall, and give you the solution instead.
What courses to take after NLP training?
What are courses to take after NLP training for someone who really feels they like to be training all the time or some more. Whether you are seminar junkie, a procrastinator, having a fear to start, are just about the credentials and not the actual skill. Seminars are fun, I agree! If you just want to have fun, then take any training you find fun. If your reasoning is more about skills acquisition…then training is not your answer.
This reasoning is at the core of the thinking process behind my original answer. Think about one of those TV shows where a Doctor gets fresh out of college, and now has their first day in the training hospital. It is there where he/she learns to “be” a Doctor, and where knowledge learned in school becomes an applicable skill. To go from being a student with a degree, to be a healer with an actual gift. The person that you look for when the airline attendant announces “Is there a Medical Doctor on this flight? Please report in front of the plane.”
A jack of all trades
What if I told you that your heart surgeon in training (yes the hero of our story already got a promotion), now wants to become a lawyer too because it compliments the skill set of a doctor these days. Whilst also enrolling for another training program to become a brain surgeon which will hopefully not interfere with the training to be a Spanish interpreter. Become a heart surgeon first. If anything make it all about the heart, not by reading more books. But by developing a training program for yourself practicing NLP and/or coaching. It isn’t about what courses to take after NLP training, rather than than honing in on what you learned.
Build your own training program?
Now our young doctor gets a training in a real life environment inside the hospital, literally thrown into the deep end of the pool, in the midst of life and death.
You need to create this situation yourself. Basically you create the courses to take after NLP training.
1) The training program you will do by yourself! This isn’t about books. This is more about taking NLP Practitioner, and practice each skill one-by-one on your own.
2) Practicing with others in two ways: a) seeing real clients/people to overtly apply the tools to, b) seeing people to covertly apply the tools on. C) using a practice buddy community on Facebook (we have one for former students.)
If you must…
Study your manual in detail, study this blog in detail (there are many examples how to practice NLP), watch our youtube channel, obtain the Global NLP Training post-course video set which contains: NLP Practitioner training and demos, designs to host your own workshop, coaching forms, and some of Nicole’s designs to sink your teeth in to. Do not purchase more NLP books! Stick with what you have, really play with the training you took already.
We also have an online available, we can offer a discount for former students, who those who can demonstrate they have trained with a reputable school,
Trainer Nicole’s Language Patterns….
er be shocked that mastery in the Meta Model will take you maybe 20 hours of practice. The core of the Milton model if you spend 10 minutes a day practicing stringing together beautiful words like the game we played in class, you would be amazed! This isn’t years of effort, this is just a couple of months of a daily practice or 50 hours of your time. That’s all! You take the mastery from there.
Where Should You take Trainers Training?
The fact that the young doctor asks during his first two weeks in the training hospital where he can take the course to become the Chief of Staff is a great question, but doesn’t have a “short-cut” answer. Our surgeon needs to do his or her years worth of application in the field first, chief of staff happens as a result of that. A person doesn’t become an NLP trainer by taking a 1 week course after NLP Master Practitioner.
They become one by doing the following: 1) Practice NLP in the field, 2) Doing mini workshops teaching pieces of NLP (like the design for one I put in the post-course videos.) Truth be told absolutely NOTHING I do, I have learned inside my own official trainers training. Yes, a total of zero. That trainers training you only do as a wrapper around what you already know how to do, take the training with nothing and you will walk out with nothing, take the training with an amazing trainers skill set and you will walk out the same. However, with the official NLP credentials.
